Only Monday, Really!

What a crazy day!  Saturday after getting home from our quick trip, I checked out McKay's loose tooth.  Ya.... not so loose and another coming in above it, and to top it all off, it was infected!  Of course he didn't complain, he really dislikes the dentist!  He wiggled that tooth until it was really tender trying to get it out before I took him to the dentist.  This morning I called the Dentist and made an appointment to get in today.  The most difficult part of the trip is that his dentist of choice is 2 hours away (he comes to Loa 2 times a month, we just missed him!) Dr. Albrecht is so good with McKay, we highly recommend him!  I called Marcus, who rushed home to make the trip, so I could tend Payton (My nephew).  In the mean time, I decided to take Mia in to the Dr.!  What all in one day!  Mia who is potty trained, was not wanting to go potty, crying hysterically when she tried, and having many  accidents.  Dad offered to stay home and tend Payton, so we could be to the Dr. at 11:00 a.m.  What a rush!  Everyone seems to be fine tonight, a little sore.  The dentist pulled the tooth, which would not have come out on its own for another 2 months !  Mia is on an antibiotic and seems to be doing better already.  It helps that the kids are all making sure she drinks plenty of  water!   

I am very appreciative of family close by to help out, and also to a good husband and his employer that would let him leave with five minutes notice to come home.  

Over all of the stress,  I did find some positive in the day:

Seeing Grandpa Sorensen.  He loves visits from NIA (Not and error, he calls Mia that)

As we pulled into the Walmart parking lot, Mia said "another store......Shoot!"  Mom and I both laughed!  She sounds so grown up!   

So much for getting things accomplished today.  I did get a calendar ready for preschool (thanks to Marcus' help).  The month sounds exciting:  a pumpkin patch field trip, Halloween party, field trip to the firehouse, and maybe making Carmel apples (depends on Miss Allison's patients!)

Touchdown!

Marcus had to go to Kanab to do the "electrifying" halftime! He gives a hat, $25, and $250, for kicking fieldgoals from the 5 , 15 and the 25 yrd. line. He has a great time doing it.

I was needing an out, so we gathered a few things and went with him. The kids had a great time playing with the training equipment! McKay took a beating from the bag, it was more entertaining than the game! They all practiced their blocking abilities, they pushed hard, but didn't move it. We left during the fourth quarter, and the odds were not in Parowan's favor. From there we traveled to St. George, ya... that is a long stretch of highway! Good way to take the cabin fever away for a day or two at least! (I only got a pic of the warm up, I put the camera away early! I do know they wear uniforms in the real game!)

What happens when mom exercises!

So here is the story: I haven't been getting up as early as I usually do to exercise, so I decided to let Mia go in the preschool room and create. I gave her a big piece of paper and the water colors. She was having a great time. I just got a mile in on the treadmill when she came in and said, "come see mom." So I went in to see her wonderful artwork. She took me right to the wall. I couldn't be upset, because I used the paint for my benefit. I grabbed the camera, and a rag. I told her she would have to clean it up and left. When I walked in a few minutes later she said, " tada!" She had cleaned it all up. Luckily it was just watercolors. I guess I better just get up early!! You can see the remorse on her face, huh!

Things that made me smile this week:
Mia insisted on taking Madi's pony to church with her, Madi finally gave in to the argument, with her final words being, "just don't let it fall into the wrong hands!" Our Madi is so dramatic! Mia just said "Okay!"

Canning Season!

On Friday I did the basic house work, load of laundry, tidied up the kitchen, and decided to leave everything else and get my peaches done. Luckily they were totally green when I bought them a week ago. Mia and I packed up all of the canning supplies and went to Grandma T's. She had already done some of hers and my few didn't take very long. Marcus had eatten a half of a box with his peaches and cream cravings (actually 2% tastes a lot like cream after skim!, still watching that cholesterol!)

I also experimented with fresh peach pie. I had a few bummer moments, but the final product was tasty! First tip: use a bigger pan or take it off of the heat while adding the peach jello and cornstarch! Mom hates a dirty cooktop! Yes I cleaned it up! Second tip: measure the peaches... looks like enough dosn't always work! I made four pies to share around.

Mom reminded me about back in the day when she would do 18 bushel of fruit! Ya sounds crazy! Luckily our day was not so labor intense. Thanks to Grandma our few (14 bottles) look wonderful!

That night I made a yummy tortilla chicken soup (brothy, lots of garlic and lime, just what I like!) It was a good end to a work filled day! I LOVE FALL!

Fall Mountain Photo Shoot!

Today we decided to drive up the mountain to take a few pictures.  We thought we would have more vivid Fall colors, but the early frost may have got them.  The kids had a good time posing. Mia fell asleep on the way up and was a little unwilling to smile.  McKay was even the photographer for a few shots.  What an enjoyable Sunday afternoon.  Cute kids, huh!

For the love of reading blogs!

I have given into the peer pressure! This may be the only post I make, and it only took me a week to accomplish it. With Whitney's encouragement and hopefully help, we will make this work. I am learning, so don't judge on the cute factor.

We are still trying to get into the groove of being in school, doing preschool, having a tween, homework, did I mention the tween! I will try to post some updates on the kids, but Wow at least I got a photo on!

Little Red Hen

I have taken on a new job this year. I am doing a little preschool in my basement. So far we are having a great time. This week we are talking about the color red. Grandma T. came over and after reading the Little Red Hen story, helped the kids knead the bread and make their own little loaf. We got it out of the oven just in time to go home. Some of the kids were nibbling on it as they walked out the door. Mia ate all but 1/4 of hers, it was even wheat bread. No need to slice it, right!

I am chilling out a little. I would usually cringe with him in the dog house, and make him shower.

Every boy needs a dog!

It just takes mom a long time to be convinced! McKay and Marcus picked up Mazy last weekend. One evening I was looking for Mckay...Whit and I found him out in the (small) dog house cuddled up with her. It was a cool night so he took a blanket and an old pillow out to make sure she was warm. He spends every minute he can with her. Even I am starting to warm up to her! Mia and Madi not so much. She is pretty spoiled and loves to be held. I even give in to her whimpering and let her out when the kids are at school, although I have to carry Mia everywhere. Aren't puppies great!
