Pinewood Derby!

Should we cry or cheer?  Tonight we had our final Derby race.  McKay got creative and designed his "SNOWBOARD"!  It is not and will never be a skateboard...even if it does have wheels.  After cutting off the main portion of the wood, we then had to get it up to weight.  Lucky for us Chet helped us out.  McKay wanted to add some G.I. Joe boots on.  He couldn't figure out how to do the bindings.  Chet and McKay ended up putting b.b.'s in the boots and covering them with hot glue.  Inventive, huh!

After all of the hard work it was not the winning board.  But McKay was pleased with how it turned out.  Marcus drew some "sick" designs on the board and McKay painted it on with a paint pen.  He was pretty proud of how it turned out.  He is such an easy going kid, he always has a smile on his face.  Too bad his dad is better at numbers than at building a derby car, it would help if we were not running out the door putting the wheels on.

We ended up using  glue dots to stick the boots to the board, and then ended up digging 2 b.b's out to make weight.  Who knew glue dots were so heavy!  What a great group of boys, and the cars were amazing!

Another side note on McKay.  We also had an orthodontist appointment today, Whit was home with the coughing, sore throat yuck, so she kept Mia.  We had to run a few errands.  While we were grocery shopping,  an older gentleman was in one of the motorized carts.  The cute little man, knocked off a few cans.  Without hesitation, McKay went over and picked them up for him.  I just wanted to hug him.  What an awesome kid!   Taking scouting to heart:  Do a Good Turn Daily!

On one of his races he came over to me and said, "get ready mom this is going to be ugly! " And no he wasn't planning on winning!   What a great attitude.

Pud Muddles

We have had some nice weather the last few days, so Mia and I took advantage of them and took a walk outside.  As we were walking across to Grandma's house Mia said, "mom let's jump over the PUD MUDDLE  so we don't get our feet yucky."  I asked her again what it was just to see if she just mixed her words up, but nope she said it again.

As we ate dinner that night, I told the rest of the family about our pud muddles.  We started laughing and remembering what funny things the other kids said as they were growing up.

Madi's phrase was keysart (carseat)  it took us forever to get that turned around.
McKay forever said welcful in his prayers when he was thankful for something.
Whit was just the first child, so we can't remember her quirks.  Although now, she always says "I have a question,"  even if it is not a question!

I also had one of those "How old are you" moments when Mia (2 yrs. old)  looked at me and asked, "Mom what does jealous means."  What .....where in the world did you hear about jealous!  Does Dora or the Diamond Castle girls talk about that?

Random other things!

Okay, so this cat gets a lot of attention!  Mia opens the back door and yells, "Snowball," and the cat comes running in.  Mia loves it until the cat can't take anymore.  Mia has got her to stay off of the carpet by telling her too stay on the mat.  As soon as she wanders to the carpet she goes out the door.  This cat is so soft and cuddly, but it was born without a tail.  Today Mia took the cat by the face and told her she would get her a tail for Christmas.   This spoiled cat gets to come in the morning because it is too chilly, and at night because it is scared of monsters!  Being two and the last child is sooo fun!

This is the greatest sign of SpRIng!  Yes tax season!  We have files scattered on the table the desk and the island, on Saturdays.
Hard at work!  Oddly enough he loves the numbers!  Gotta love the Accountants!  The thing he hates the most is having to tell someone they owe.  This Accountant has a heart!
This is one of Whitney's 10 hr. projects!  Grandma pieced this beautiful quilt.  Whit and I helped only for a moment.  She allowed us to help cut and sew a few blocks.  Whit sewed a few pillows to go with  her bedspread.  We love how it turned out, Whit worked hard  quilting, and only complained a couple of time of sore fingers!  Grandma is so talented!  The picture does not do it justice.  The green in the middle of the bows on the side actually stands out from the bow.  Amazing!
She did a great job on her stitches!

Signs of Spring and other Things!

What..... I have a blog?  Whit thought we should update, so here we go...... be prepared it goes on and on and on!

Baby lambs that Grandpa feeds from a bottle.  We love to watch the lambs running up and down the field like they are having relay races .  Too bad today it was way too cold for them to act giddy!
Yet another sign of SpRing!  One of the boys in preschool brought a new batch of puppies to hold, they all wanted to take one home.  They didn't even have their eyes open yet!
We made Mr. T. in preschool and talked about the letter T, and his teeth for dental health month.  They turned out so cute.  The teeth are mini marshmallows, and yes the kids ate the glue and teeth if they fell out!  Non toxic right?!

Other Things:)

Mia was down stairs with Whit and Madi watching them play the Wii. She decided she wasn't having very much fun and that the basement floor needed to be swept. Apparently, there wasn't anything on the floor, so she used the shovel from the fireplace, put it in the ashes in the ash bucket and dumped it all over the floor.  Then, it really needed to be swept.  Whit was down there "Watching Her,"  I guess she was so into bowling  that she didn't see Mia doing all of her "cleaning." When I came down, there were ashes all over the living room downstairs. I  got the vacuum for Mia to clean it up, she didn't stop until it was done! One of the few times that making the mess and cleaning the mess were both fun!  What a little helper!  :)
Here is some of her mess!  At least we don't have carpet in the basement yet.  (btw, Whit is the publisher, sneaky to write it like mom did!)

This is on our way home from Marcus' Grandma's funeral in Nevada. Madi, McKay and Mia were asleep. Whit thought it was pretty funny how McKay slept!  McKay was wiped out from the fun times he had with Brent and Aimee and the FIRES!
Mia, Madi and Grandma Batchelor felt like Princesses in the Limo on the way to the cemetery.
Mia and her Snowball! What a patient cat!
Mia coloring her Dora and Boots! She usually only allows coloring with PINK!  No other options!
